General information

We take the protection of your personal data very seriously and treat it confidentially, in line with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy. It explains which data we collect, what we use it for and how.

Please note that data transmission over the internet (e.g. when communicating by email) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

Hosting and server log files

Our servers are located in data centres in Germany. When you visit the site or download the app, the provider automatically collects and stores information in server log files that your browser transmits:

  • browser type and version
  • operating system
  • referrer URL
  • host name of the accessing computer
  • time of the server request
  • IP address

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the site securely and reliably (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Retention: 30 days. This data is not combined with other data sources.

SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons this site uses SSL or TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the address starting with “https://” and the lock symbol in your browser.

Cookies and local storage

Without your consent this website sets no cookies. We keep your choice about Google Analytics in your browser’s local storage so we don’t have to ask on every visit; it never leaves your device. Analytics cookies are only set with your consent.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, with Google Consent Mode. The Google tag is loaded from googletagmanager.com on every page. It shows us which pages are visited how often and how often Tuckby is downloaded. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses.

Without your consent the tag runs in a restricted mode: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and only sends anonymous signals without any identifier that could recognise you (for example that a page was visited, the time and the browser). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in anonymous audience measurement (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

With your consent in the notice at the bottom of the page, Google Analytics measures fully. This includes the pages visited, date and time, device and browser details and your approximate location; Google Analytics stores cookies for this (_ga, _ga_*) that last up to two years. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, § 25 (1) TDDDG).

Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can withdraw your consent at any time with “Analytics settings” at the bottom of every page; the cookies are then deleted. Details: Google Privacy Policy.

Contact by email

If you contact us by email, your request including all personal data it contains (name, request) is stored and processed to handle your concern. We do not pass this data on without your consent. Retention: until you ask for deletion or withdraw your consent.

The app

Tuckby stores your shelf and settings only locally on your Mac (~/Library/Application Support/Tuckby/). There is no account, no analytics and no tracking.

The only network requests are link previews: when you put a link on the shelf, Tuckby loads its title and icon directly from that website. Like any visit in a browser, that website sees your IP address. Nothing goes through us.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access the personal data stored about you
  • have incorrect data rectified
  • have your data erased
  • restrict processing
  • data portability
  • object to processing
  • withdraw consent you have given
